Gears of War 3 – What Needs To Be Done

April 18, 2010

2006 saw the launch of one of the finest third person shooters I have ever had the good fortune to play: Gears of War. It has led the way for practically all third person shooters of this generation with its extremely refined cover system and really weighty mechanics. It all seemed to come together brilliantly. There was pretty much no story but it had atmosphere and is quite possibly the best excuse to run around shooting the shit out of everything I’ve ever played. Read the rest of this entry ?

Ubisoft has announced that Splinter Cell: Conviction will be receiving new DLC on a weekly basis, starting tomorrow. Every Thursday will see some form of downloadable content being released which will include “new weapons, skins and even a new Deniable Ops map.”. To sweeten the deal, it will be completely free.

There has been no official word on whether paid content will eventually be released but Ubisoft have mentioned that they like the idea. Until then, we can live off the minor, but free, content.

Splinter Cell: Conviction is was out yesterday in the US and will be released in the UK on Friday and has been very well received so far.

Game of the Month: March 2010

April 10, 2010

March was an excellent month for gamers. With multiple great games being released gamers were spoiled for choice.  Titles like Just Cause 2, God of War III, Yakuza 3, Bad Company 2, Pokémon, Metro 2033 and more made it one hell of a month. However, there was one game in particular that has been taking up my time pretty much all month and that was Final Fantasy XIII. Read the rest of this entry ?

Gears Of War Appears On 360 Dasboard, Coming April 2011

April 9, 2010

The above picture appeared on the Xbox Live dashboard which confirms Gears of War 3 is in fact being made. It has now been removed but the screenshot is all we need to prove its existence. Notice it mentions that it will be released in April 2011 which means it’s still a fair while away but at least we finally have confirmation, even if it isn’t the official announcement that was expected.

Last night, Cliff Bleszinski was supposed to reveal his latest game on the Jimmy Fallon but it was moved to Monday. I suspect that Microsoft had set the above image to show after it had been announced but forget to change the date; I bet Cliffy B isn’t too happy about that. At least we know that we’ll be seeing Gears of War 3 content on Monday.

Bizzare’s upcoming Blur was recently in Beta stage and if you had a code you could go and give the multiplayer of the game a try. Now, however, it will be released publically so no code will be required now. Currently, it is to arrive on April 6th, once again exclusive to Xbox 360. Gareth Wilson, the lead designer, told Kotaku the following:

“We basically ran out of code, so next week we are going to go live with the whole thing publically so anyone can download it,” Wilson said. “We’ve been sneaking on to see what people think of it and people are really getting into it…”
