David Jaffe: Game Sharing “is utter horse shit”

April 18, 2010

David Jaffe (God of War, Twisted Metal) is not known to keep his opinions to himself very often. Don’t get me wrong, I respect the man and think he should express what he thinks just like everyone else does, regardless of any criticism he gets. Yesterday, on Twitter, he gave his opinion regarding “game sharing”.

“@zKAPOWz No, but I think game sharing on PSN is utter horse shit. Why is it ok to buy a game and give it to 2-5 peeps 4 free? Insane!”

For those who don’t know, it’s when one PSN account downloads a game and then give the details to others to download onto their PS3. There’s a limit of only 3 systems though (Thanks – SJ) though. He has a fair point really, especially since he developed Calling All Cars on PSN. I don’t actually know if this is a big issue; it’s not something that’s heard of a lot but he still makes a fair point.

Flower Soundtrack Coming To PSN This Week

April 6, 2010

This week will finally see the release of the Flower soundtrack on both the European and US PlayStation Store. It is priced at €1.99/£1.59/$2.99 which is really good considering that it will feature 8 tracks from the game and will run for just over an hour. Anyone who’s played the game will know that the soundtrack is fantastic; very calm and relaxing.

Despite PSN currently being the only method of purchasing the soundtrack it should be able to play on computers.

Final Fantasy IX Heading To PSN

April 3, 2010

As expected, Final Fantasy IX is following the path of it’s two predecessors and will be showing up on PSN. Last week, Square Enix were having a meeting and the plan was to discuss FFIX‘s fate on the PlayStation Network. Now, however, it has been confirmed by a video posted on Twitter.

Don’t worry if you understand the brief video; I can’t either. Andriasang steps up to translate again, stating that the video contains a confirmation of the game coming to PSN. Currently, there are no details of pricing or release but expect information on that to appear soon.

Personally, I’m looking forward to this as I found it hard to get this for a good price from eBay.

Incredibles Pack Heading To LBP

March 30, 2010

Remember Pixar’s awesome The Incredibles? Well, there will be a LittleBigPlanet costume pack themed around the super powered family. Yes, it may be slightly late but we are getting nine costumes designed around the animated film. The pack will come with the five costumes you can see above, plus Frozone, Edna Mode, Syndrome and a “Retro” Mr Incredible.

As well as a costume pack, there will also be a level pack offering stages in similar areas to that of the film. Expect to see this released on the US PlayStation Store on April 8th.

Final Fantasy IX Heading To PSN?

March 29, 2010

After Square released both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII on the PlayStation Store, you would expect the ninth (main) installment to follow shortly. Despite this, Square remain silent on the topic but have now revealed plans to discuss it at their next meeting. This was revealed via Twitter, after fans have expressed their desire for the game.

“Thanks to everyone for your opinions on FF9. Regarding an FF9 download release, everyone is so passionate about it that I’ll be proposing it at the next board meeting. Look forward to next week!”

However, this isn’t a confirmation. It will be discussed in an upcoming meeting where it will either be accepted or denied, I can’t see why it wouldn’t be accepted though. Look out for news on the subject soon.

Thanks to Andriasang for translating.

PS3 Errors All Round [Update – Problem Solved]

March 1, 2010

Update: Now that it’s past midnight (GMT) and therefore it’s a new day PS3’s are working as they should be. Sony have gave a confirmation saying so but recommend you make sure the clock is set to the right date before playing. They also confirmed that the problem was to do with the clock thinking 2010 was a leap year. Anyway, welcome back PS3; I can’t wait to get stuck back into Heavy Rain!

If you are an owner of a “fat” (Not a slim) PS3 then it is advised to not put it on at all today. Regardless of whether it has connected to the Internet before; how often it is used or how long ago you got it; if it isn’t a slim some major problems could occur. The error has been going on for the full day so I’m sorry I never reported it sooner.

According to Sony, the problem seems to have been caused by a bug in the internal clock. Various problems have been reported because of this with many users loosing game saves completely with no way of re-obtaining them. Trophy data us also being corrupted but this may be able to be obtained after the problem is sorted.

Sony have repeatedly said that they are trying to fix the problem on their blogs and various Twitter accounts so hopefully they aren’t just waiting until midnight to see if it fixes itself. It might be worth checking out the official forums too. Currently, they are aiming to solve the problem in the “next 24 hours”.

Update: Sony have advised not to connect to PSN at all; even on the Slim PS3.

Bargain – Flower

February 11, 2010

One of the best games available to download from the PlayStation Store, Flower, has been reduced in price. Originally it cost £6.29 but it has been dropped to £2.39 for one week. If this price still doesn’t convince you to buy the game, read my review where I ramble on about why it’s such a good game.

The deal will only last until the 18th of February so get it before time runs out.
