Jason West and Vince Zampella, former senior employees of Infinity Ward and lead creators of Modern Warfare 2, have been going  through lots of trouble with Activision recently. Activision own Infinity Ward and decided to fire to the senior employees after thinking they were a liability. Throw in lawsuits both ways to just add to the disagreement. Well, West and Zampella look to be taking a final blow against Activision and have set up a new studio with their biggest rival, EA.

Today, the two creators announced that they have a new studio which has an exclusive publishing deal with EA. The company is called Respawn Entertainment and despite having a deal with EA, they remain completely independent. Funnily enough, they both used to work on the earlier Medal of Honor games before starting Infinity Ward and creating Call of Duty.

“Respawn Entertainment marks a fresh start for Jason and me,” Zampella said in a statement. “For the past decade we led a great development team and poured our hearts into creating an epic game franchise. We’re very proud of what we built – and proud that so many millions of fans enjoyed those games. Today we hope to do it all over again — open a new studio, hire a great team, and create brand new games with a new partner, EA.”

No details have been released regarding upcoming projects though but information will be released eventually.

  1. Meh, activision hold the rights to COD, and not too many people are gonna buy a game they haven’t heard of over COD, unless they read blogs etc, CODs got the name recognition, same as FIFA NFS etc
