Bungie Dropping Something Big

March 31, 2010

Bungie has teased the above picture via Twitter claiming that something big will be happening sometime this week. With the image showing what appears to be a Spartan (Looking visually incredible, if I do say), I think it’s safe to assume that it’s Halo related. Here’s the full tweet:

“http://twitpic.com/1c1ygz – Just got this mysterious image and word that something big is dropping this week?!”

Even though I am looking forward to an announcement I have a strong feeling it may be a joke, it is April Fools Day tomorrow after all.

Incredibles Pack Heading To LBP

March 30, 2010

Remember Pixar’s awesome The Incredibles? Well, there will be a LittleBigPlanet costume pack themed around the super powered family. Yes, it may be slightly late but we are getting nine costumes designed around the animated film. The pack will come with the five costumes you can see above, plus Frozone, Edna Mode, Syndrome and a “Retro” Mr Incredible.

As well as a costume pack, there will also be a level pack offering stages in similar areas to that of the film. Expect to see this released on the US PlayStation Store on April 8th.

360 Slim Shots Leaked?

March 30, 2010

A slim Xbox 360 has been heavily rumoured for quite a while now with what was apparently details and information being leaked onto the Internet. Microsoft obviously denied the existence of the smaller 360 but GameKings are claiming to have some leaked pictures of the system. As you can see from the image, it looks a lot smaller and thinner than the normal model.

Of course, this is by no means an announcement. I’ve emailed Microsoft for confirmation but I doubt they’ll give much of a comment – despite it looking like it could be the 360 slim. If the pictures are true, I think it’s safe to say that slim consoles cannot be used as an E3 shocker.

Vanguish Out By End Of The Year

March 29, 2010

Sega has confirmed that the upcoming Vanguish will be releasing this year in the West for the PS3 and X360. With the Japanese release date always being scheduled for this year, it’s nice to see the West getting the same treatment. To be honest, the main atatraction of Vanquish is the fact that it boasts talent from the likes of Bayonetta and Resident Evil.

Final Fantasy IX Heading To PSN?

March 29, 2010

After Square released both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII on the PlayStation Store, you would expect the ninth (main) installment to follow shortly. Despite this, Square remain silent on the topic but have now revealed plans to discuss it at their next meeting. This was revealed via Twitter, after fans have expressed their desire for the game.

“Thanks to everyone for your opinions on FF9. Regarding an FF9 download release, everyone is so passionate about it that I’ll be proposing it at the next board meeting. Look forward to next week!”

However, this isn’t a confirmation. It will be discussed in an upcoming meeting where it will either be accepted or denied, I can’t see why it wouldn’t be accepted though. Look out for news on the subject soon.

Thanks to Andriasang for translating.

Heavy Rain Review

March 28, 2010

Developer: Quantic Dream
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Platform:  PlayStation 3
Genre:  Interactive Drama
Players: 1
Release Date: 24th February 2010 (EU)

David Cage, the head of Quantic Dream, had said on multiple occasions that Heavy Rain would be a completely new experience, more in the shape of an interactive drama than an actual video game. Judging from the sounds of things it sounded like it could have been a revolution that would take storytelling to a new level in video games and offer a whole new level of emotional connection. I can safely say that despite being a little sceptical, David Cage was right. Read the rest of this entry ?

Bargain – Valkyria Chronicles

March 28, 2010

Valkyria Chronicles is the most underrated game on the PS3. It’s boasts an incredibly deep battle system with an even better artistic design which will drop your jaw on more than one occasion. Character and story are also top notch too. If you are an RPG fan, you need to get this game as it is one of the finest on the system and quite possibly the best strategy RPG I’ve ever played. Zavvi are selling it for only £15 which is one of the best buys I’ve ever seen.

PS3 – £14.95
