Peace Walker Was Originally MGS5

February 24, 2010

Last year, Kojima decided to go ahead and confuse evergone (outside his games) with a countdown to what turned out to be the announcement of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid: Rising at E3. Various symbols and letters appeared in the countdown which subtly hinted at what was to be announced. People who followed it may remember the “S” or the “5” that appeared. Nobody was clear on what it was but we now know why.

Peace Walker was originally Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker. Konami spokesperson Jirou Oishi revealed that this was the title during the planning stags of the game. So the symbol in the countdown was actually a “5” hinted at a full blown entry to the series. It may not be known as MGS5 anymore but Kojima has stated on many occasions that this is HIS MGS5. “This game is an MGS5-class game”.

Expect to see Peace Walker launching on April 29, May 25 and May 27 in Japan, North America and Europe respectively; exclusively on the PSP.
