PS3 70% cheaper to make

July 31, 2009

The price of manufacturing a PlayStation 3 has dropped 70% according to Sony CEO, Nobuyuki Oneda. He said this:

“The cost reduction since we introduced the PS3 is very substantial and this is on schedule,”

“We don’t disclose how much of the PlayStation 3, specifically the cost deduction, was achieved during the past two years. But that is on schedule.”

When he was asked how much the price had come down he said, “About 70 per cent, roughly speaking.”

This could mean that a price cut is on it’s way since they are cheaper to make but wait for the official word before taking it as fact.
