Nintendo have now released the first official screenshots of Pokémon Black & White which is to be released in Japan sometime this year for the DS. No word on other regions yet though. You may recognise some of these screenshots as magazine scans but these are much better quality and look pretty good if I do say so myself.

You’ve probably already heard about Gears of War 3 being announced and I really should have posted about it earlier but some unfortunate events prevented me from doing so. Instead, I’ve decided to round up as much information on the game as possible all in one big post.
First of all we have the above trailer which was shown last night on the Jimmy Fallon show. The melancholy, acoustic music (Heron Blue by Sun Kil Moon if you’re interested) used in the trailer is a common trait with the series as both the previous installments have shown footage alongside emotional music. Despite not being officially announced, Gears of War 3 made it’s way onto the front cover of Electronic Gaming Monthly suggesting that the game is in fact, in development. This isn’t much of a shock though. One problem with this reveal though was a lack of information; with no details being released until the magazine launches. However, we just happen to have some screenshots that may make the waiting slightly easier.
We can’t confirm that this is actually Gears of War 3 but it shares an uncanny resemblance to the series. It is difficult to get a proper look at the game from the following images though, but it does reveal a new character who makes for an interesting design choice. Screenshots are after the jump. They look lovely, don’t they? Visually it is really impressive; it maintains Sonic’s charm and style but is a lot smoother looking than before. It also looks to be sticking true to the gameplay but we’ll need to play it to decide that.
Crystal Dynamics did say they were going with a new direction for Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and it’s clearly apparent in the screenshots. Ditching the third person camera that Tomb Raider has pretty much always used, the new title is more in favour of an isometric view. It’s an appropriate approach to take since it’s a downloadable title but the concept is quite risky.
Another new addition to the game is the co-operative mode. A new character called Totec will act as your treasure hunting partner and can be used in both online and offline co-op. However, the game can still be played in single player.
New screenshots have been released for Konami’s upcoming hack and slash: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. The game will be supervised by none other than Hideo Kojima and so far is looking very impressive.

There are currently plans to release two downloadable episodes for Assassin’s Creed II. One is coming in January and the second will be arriving in February. People who have played the game may have came across corrupted data in Ezio’s DNA sequence which means those scenes had to be skipped. Both DLC packs will fill the gaps and let you play in the corrupted sequences.
The DLC episodes are entitled Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities, priced at $3.99 and $4.99 respectively. Forli contains six new memories which revolve around Ezio defending Forli from the Orsi Brothers. Fans of the flying machine will be pleased as you get to use it for a third (Thanks SamG) time in this episode.
The next episode, Bonfire of the Vanities, unlocks a new area in Florence. You will be able to use a new move, known as the Spring Jump, to navigate it. Florence is being controlled by a mad monk called Saconarola, and Ezio must help Machiavelli defeat him and bring the city to freedom through ten memories.
The Pirates of the Caribben level pack for LittleBigPlanet was announced a while ago and some more details have emerged. It will be released on the 22nd of December and will be priced at £4.79 (€5.99, US $5.99, AUS $ 9.95, NZD $11.50). There are various packs that will be released but that is the price for the complete pack with everything.
